Getting started in web-development

People often ask “how to get started with web development”?

There literally is so many ways, I’ll just give you one idea for the time being.

Do you want to build a site, without too much trouble?

You can build sites with Content Management Systems like WordPress, you don’t even have to write any code, although it’s handy to have HTML, CSS and even PHP.

I built this site’s “Theme” getting inside the workings of WordPress. I was able to customise everything myself. I would have built it much faster if I used someone elses ‘Theme’ but it’s useful for me to know whats going on behind the scenes..

There are plenty of sites like udemy.com that offer cheap courses that’ll take you from beginner to advanced. You must be aware that the courses in udemy are user created and can vary in quality.

I made this site using a course from Alexander Oni.

I like Alex’s instruction style, it feels like he is invested in your success and he teaches with some humour, some dad jokes keeps things lively.

He specialises in WordPress development and basic cyber security. The exercises in all his courses are easy to follow and clearly explained.

The courses are all set out for you to create a good workflow, in other words, you don’t have to wade through multiple resources to level up your WordPress skills.

Alex is usually on hand to answer questions quite fast. I have completed a WordPress theme for a hostel and built this site from much of the knowledge gained in his courses.

Thanks to his courses and a lot more practice I’m at the level where I feel like a pro.
